How our search works
We search providers registered with the Care Quality Commission near the town or postcode you give us. You can filter by the support you need, by specialisms such as dementia, and by inspection rating, then compare up to four providers side by side.
What to check before you choose
- The provider is registered for the regulated activity you need
- Their most recent CQC rating and inspection date
- Whether they cover your postcode and the visit times you want
- Minimum visit length and how continuity of carers is handled
- How costs are quoted, including evenings, weekends and travel

What is home care?
Home care, also called domiciliary care, is support delivered in someone's own home. It can cover personal care such as washing and dressing, help with medication, meal preparation, companionship and support with mobility.
Is home care regulated?
Home care agencies providing personal care in England must be registered with the Care Quality Commission. Registered services are inspected and most are given a rating of Outstanding, Good, Requires improvement or Inadequate.
How do I arrange home care?
Shortlist providers that cover your area, contact them to discuss needs and availability, and ask for a care assessment. Costs, visit lengths and start dates are agreed directly between you and the provider.
